Img2Go Review

img2go.com · QaamGo Web GmbH

Img2Go puts 27 image tools behind a single browser tab, and it opens every one of them without an account or an install. You can swap a photo background by typing one plain sentence, and the cutout tool even lets you pick a model before it runs. It fits anyone who wants quick image work done now rather than a design suite to learn.

What Img2Go Does

01 . Overview

Img2Go is an online image workshop. It runs entirely in the browser and bundles editing, conversion, compression, and a set of AI tools into one place, so a photo can be cropped, cut out from its background, shrunk for email, or turned from HEIC into JPG without opening a separate site for each job. QaamGo Web GmbH, a German company in Radolfzell, builds and runs it.

The pitch is speed and access over depth. There is no software to download and nothing to sign up for before the first edit, which puts it in the same lane as the quick web utilities people reach for mid-task rather than the installed suites they plan projects around. Paid plans exist for anyone who outgrows the free wall, starting with Starter and climbing to a Business tier aimed at teams, but the free tier is the front door and most casual users will never leave it.

What Happened When We Tested It

02 . 5 tests covering editing, cutouts, conversion, and privacy

We worked through Img2Go logged out, on the free tier, feeding it the kind of mixed material a normal user throws at a free editor: a busy photo, an illustrated scene, an iPhone-style file, and a general poke at how far free actually goes. Here is where each test landed.

Changing a background by describing it

Test 01 . AI Edit
★ Prompt Used

"replace the background with white background"

Img2Go AI Edit panel showing a typed instruction to replace the background with white, above a photo of a dog in round glasses reading a newspaper in a cafe
The AI Edit tool with the typed instruction, before running it.
The edited result: the same dog in glasses reading a newspaper, now on a plain white background with the cafe removed
What Img2Go returned: the cafe replaced by plain white.
What we observed: One line of plain English did the whole job. The cafe vanished, the fur edges held, the round glasses stayed sharp, and the newspaper text was still readable. The Edit with AI button wears a small crown, the usual mark of a paid feature, yet the run went through free. Read that as a soft cap: free users get a handful of goes before the crown starts to mean something.

Picking a model before the cutout

Test 02 . Remove Background
Img2Go Remove Background tool with a dropdown offering four models: Generic 1, Generic 2, Humans, and Clothes
Choosing a background-removal model in the dropdown.
Original upload: an illustrated bedtime scene of a grandfather and a boy in a lantern-lit room with a window and a cot
Before: the uploaded illustration.
After: the same grandfather and boy with the entire room, window, and lantern removed, leaving the two figures on a transparent cutout
After: background removed on the free tier.
The signal here: The dedicated remover gave more control than a one-click eraser, letting us pick from Generic 1, Generic 2, Humans, and Clothes before it ran. On the illustration it stripped the whole room, window and hanging lantern included, and kept fine detail down to the old man's white hair and thin glasses frame. The one miss was a sliver of the cot leg left at the bottom edge. On a clear subject, the cutout was clean enough to drop onto any new backdrop.

One tab, many jobs

Test 03 . Tool menu
Img2Go tool menu listing 27 apps grouped by job, including compression, resizing, HEIC to JPG conversion, and video to GIF
The tool menu grouping 27 apps by what they do.
Where it lands: Img2Go is not a single-purpose site. The menu lists 27 apps sorted by job, from compression and resizing to converting a HEIC file to JPG and turning a short video into a GIF. For anyone moving iPhone photos onto a website, having the HEIC-to-JPG converter sitting beside the editor removes the usual hop between separate tools.

Saving the file, and where free stops

Test 04 . Export gates
Img2Go save and share panel offering Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox, and a Share button, with the Copy link option greyed out
Save and share options shown after an edit.
A separate third-party design editor opened from Img2Go, prompting the user to create an account before continuing
The separate design editor an outside handoff opens, prompting an account.
The real story: Downloading and cloud saving both worked while logged out, with Google Drive, OneDrive, and Dropbox all listed. The free wall sat on one button: Copy link was greyed out under a "Sign in to share by link" note, so link sharing needs an account. A separate "use the result" path also pushed the image into an outside design editor that demanded Create Account, which is a third-party handoff rather than Img2Go's own canvas.

What happens to your uploads

Test 05 . File handling
Img2Go security note stating files travel over an encrypted connection and are deleted automatically after processing
Img2Go's file-handling note.
Worth noting: The security note says each file moves over an encrypted connection and is deleted on its own after processing. Logged out, anything left in the workspace clears after roughly an hour. For someone feeding personal photos into a free website, automatic deletion plus no sign-up lowers the odds of images sitting on a server after you close the tab.
★
The no-account editor that still cleans up after you

The pairing that held up best across testing: full editing and background removal with no login at all, backed by automatic file deletion within about an hour. You get real work done and the uploads do not linger, which is rare for a free image tool.

!
Sharing a result by link forces a sign-up

Copy link is greyed out until you create an account. If your workflow ends in pasting a link to a teammate rather than downloading a file, the free tier stops you at the last step, and a separate "use the result" path hands you off to an outside editor that also wants an account.

How this review was put together. We ran five hands-on tests in October 2026 on the free, logged-out version of Img2Go: an AI background swap, a model-selected background removal, a walk through the 27-app menu, the save and share flow, and the file-handling note. Pricing was verified the same month on the official plans page at img2go.com/pricing. Competitor prices were checked on each vendor's own pricing page on the day of writing.

Pros and Cons

04 . What stood out, good and bad
+What works
  • No barrier to the first edit: tools open with no install and no account, so you are working seconds after landing.
  • Model choice on cutouts: picking Humans or Clothes before removal gives cleaner edges than a blind one-click eraser.
  • Uploads do not linger: encrypted transfer and automatic deletion after about an hour when logged out.
  • Handy for iPhone files: the HEIC-to-JPG converter sits right beside the editor.
−What frustrates
  • Link sharing is locked out: Copy link stays greyed out until you make an account.
  • Confusing outside handoff: the "use the result" path leaves Img2Go for an external editor without saying so clearly.
  • Edges can slip: the cutout left a sliver of the cot leg behind on the illustration test.
  • Opaque AI cap: the crown icon warns of a limit the free tier never actually showed us.

Where the value sits: The jump that matters is Free to Starter at $8, the step that lifts the free limits and switches the AI tools on. Pro at $29 mostly buys AI headroom, five times Starter's allowance, so it only pays off if the AI tools are your daily driver rather than an occasional convenience. Business at $89 per person is a team product with centralized billing, not an upgrade a solo user should weigh. The free tier's real cost is not money but the locked Copy link and the "limited file processing" ceiling.

How to choose: Img2Go wins on sheer range and the no-account start, and the model-pick cutout is a genuine edge over the one-click removers its rivals ship. If you only convert and compress, iLoveIMG does it cheaper on an annual plan. Pixlr is the pick when you want real layers and AI image generation rather than quick utilities, and Photoroom is built for sellers staging product photos, not general editing.

What Users Are Saying

07 . Pulled from Trustpilot and G2, the good and the angry
The lossless image compression works. I've compared it to several other tools, none of them offered the same fidelity in their supposed "pixel-for-pixel" accuracy. Also, it has no size limits.

Separating resizing and compression into different steps ruined the seamless experience that made this platform valuable. The new process is clunky, inefficient, and simply doesn't work like it used to.

Is Img2Go the right free image tool for you?

Use Img2Go if you want a wide spread of image jobs handled in one browser tab with no account, and you value a background remover that lets you pick a model before it runs rather than guessing with a single click.

Skip Img2Go if your workflow ends in a shareable link rather than a download, or if you only convert and compress, where iLoveIMG at $5 a month on an annual plan does the narrow job for less.
