    About this tool

UTM parameters are short tags added to the end of a link so your analytics tool can tell which campaign, channel and ad sent each visitor. This builder assembles the link for you, checks the address, encodes special characters correctly and keeps any query string that was already on your URL.

    • Source: where the traffic comes from, such as google, newsletter or linkedin.
    • Medium: the type of channel, such as cpc, email or social.
    • Campaign: the name of the promotion, such as spring_sale_2026.
    • Term and content: optional extras for paid keywords or for telling two links in the same campaign apart.

Use tagged links on links you place outside your own site, such as ads, emails, social posts and partner pages. Avoid tagging links between pages of your own site, because that can overwrite where a visitor really came from.

    Frequently asked questions

    Which UTM parameters are required?

Source, medium and campaign are the three you should always fill in. Term and content are optional and mostly useful for paid search keywords and for A/B testing different links inside the same campaign.

Does adding UTM parameters hurt SEO?

Not when you use them on links you share outside your site. Search engines treat the tagged page as the same page, especially when it has a canonical tag. Just avoid using UTM links for navigation inside your own website.

Why does the tool make values lowercase?

Analytics platforms such as Google Analytics treat "Email" and "email" as two different values. Writing everything in lowercase with underscores avoids split reports. You can switch to "Keep exactly as typed" if you need your own formatting.

What happens if my link already has a query string?

Your existing parameters are kept as they are. Any old utm_ parameters on the link are removed first, so you never end up with duplicates, and the new ones are added at the end.

Where do I see the results?

In Google Analytics 4, open Reports, then Acquisition, then Traffic acquisition, and look at the source, medium and campaign columns. Other analytics tools read the same parameters.

    Is my link saved anywhere?

No. The link is built in your browser as you type. Nothing is uploaded or stored, and everything is cleared when you leave the page.
